We are delighted to announce that UCL School of Management student Kaito Mizukoshi has recently been honoured with the Young Leadership Award at the Education 2.0 Conference held in Dubai last month. An annual three-day event that brings together and celebrates leaders, experts and pioneers in the world of education, this year’s Education 2.0 Conference explored the future of education in the midst of societal change.
Originally from Japan, Kaito relocated to London to begin his studies on UCL School of Management’s BSc/MSci Management Science programme and quickly established his passion for supporting education. He became UCL’s official Japanese Ambassador and significantly contributed to a number of key initiatives, such as the UCL-Japan Youth Challenge in 2022.
During his time at UCL, Kaito has also demonstrated significant entrepreneurial ability, having established UCLef in 2020. UCLef is a student-led volunteering organisation that aims to share the beauty of Western-classical music with those who are socially, economically or physically disadvantaged. A talented pianist, Kaito shares his musical ability with the UCLef community in the hopes that classical music will become a place of enrichment in their lives.
In addition to UCL-based initiatives, Kaito has also launched an innovative piano recital programme named Lights and Shadows, which sees him sharing his musical ability with a number of high schools across Japan and the UK as part of an art education initiative.
Discussing his incredibly well-deserved award, Kaito told us, “I am profoundly honoured to accept this award and am committed to leveraging it as a catalyst for positive global change through my active engagement across the diverse educational field”.
