Professor of Accounting and Finance and Deputy Director for Student Experience, Susan Smith has been appointed the Ethics Group Chair by the Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB). Susan will bring her expert knowledge and wealth of experience in accounting and finance best practises and early career pathways.
Susan takes this role alongside her other responsibility as Chair of the Ethical Standards Committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
The CCAB is a forum providing a space for the five member bodies; ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS and the Chartered Accountants Ireland to work together in the public interest on matters affecting the profession and wider economy. Their current key focuses are tackling economic crime and promoting the value of the accountancy profession to the UK economy.
When asked what this appointment means to them Susan said:
“I am delighted to take up this appointment. In a rapidly changing world, it has never been more important for professional accountancy bodies to work together on matters of professional ethics that form the bedrock of our profession.”
Susan’s position on these committees will allow her to be at the forefront of professional accountancy ethics policy and practice developments and embedded this into the student experience for those studying at the UCL School of Management.
