The piece explores the relationship between the Brazilian President, Dilma Rousseff, and her Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, in light of an increasingly unstable political climate in both countries. Following a recent attack on a delegation of Brazilian senators who were in Venezuela to visit the political prisoners Leopoldo López and Antonio Ledezma, they question whether Rousseff, who was imprisoned herself in the 1970s, is putting leftist political causes above the plight of political prisoners.
