Biography

Dr Luyao Bao is an Adjunct Lecturer at the UCL School of Management, where she teaches MSIN0142 Organisational Behaviour, a foundational module that explores how people think, feel, and act within organisations. Her teaching introduces students to key theories and evidence on leadership, motivation, personality, and organisational culture, helping them understand what drives employee behaviour at work. Through interactive lectures, case studies, and applied exercises, she supports students in developing evidence-based approaches to leading, motivating, and collaborating effectively in diverse organisational settings.

Her research centres on CSR, ESG, and corporate governance in multinational contexts. Her PhD at Queen Mary University of London comprised an in-depth case study of a globally leading British firm operating in China, examining how cultural and institutional contexts shape employees’ understanding and engagement with CSR and ESG initiatives.

She has presented her work at international academic conferences including the British Academy of Management (BAM) and the European Group for Organisational Studies (EGOS) and collaborated with Business in the Community on large-scale EDI projects.

She holds a PhD in Business and Management from Queen Mary University of London, a master’s degree from UCL with Distinction, and completed her undergraduate studies at Shandong University in China, including study at Augsburg University in Germany.

She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). She is bilingual in English and Mandarin, and proficient in German at C1 level.
