You will cultivate sharp marketing intuition paired with strategic insights powered by data analytics.
The programme culminates in a group business project where you tackle a significant marketing analytics challenge posed by a real client organisation. This hands-on project allows you to demonstrate your ability to apply theory and analytics rigour to solve actual marketing problems creatively and effectively.
Programme Structure
The curriculum integrates marketing fundamentals and analytical methods to enable informed strategic decisions.

- Term 2: Students take 3 compulsory modules and 1 optional taught module, choosing from 3 bespoke options.
- Term 3: Students take the Business Project along with 1 optional taught module, choosing from 2 bespoke options.
Each taught module will typically be delivered over 10 teaching weeks, with around 3 contact hours per week per module. Students are expected to spend approximately 7–12 hours each week in non‑contact hours on independent study, assessment preparation, e‑learning, and exam revision. The total number of weekly contact hours may vary according to the module’s demands and the activities taking place in a given week.
- Term 1 focuses on developing statistical modelling, marketing principles, analytics, and programming skills.
- Term 2 advances to economics, marketing strategy, machine learning, and market intelligence, with specialist options such as pricing, data management, or risk analysis.

How is this programme unique?
The MSc Marketing Science is distinctive for its deep analytical and data‑driven focus, underpinned by rigorous, research‑led teaching in marketing theory and practice.
Developed by leading marketing scientists in partnership with industry employers and guided by external advisors with expertise in marketing, strategy, and analytics, the programme equips you with the specialised skills that global firms, agencies, and high‑growth startups are actively seeking.
Alongside expertise in advanced analytics, you will gain programming proficiency - a capability now ranked by the World Economic Forum and LinkedIn’s Emerging Jobs Report as one of the most in‑demand skills in the marketing profession. In an era when 94% of marketing leaders say data‑driven decision‑making is critical to business growth, your ability to integrate analytical insight with creative strategy will set you apart in the job market.
Positioned firmly at the intersection of marketing and the AI revolution, the programme combines core marketing principles with cutting‑edge data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence applications. Hands‑on industry projects and optional tracks - such as Digital Marketing and Online Platforms or Causal Inference for Marketing - ensure you graduate ready to lead, innovate, and transform marketing practice.
This holistic, end‑to‑end training enables you to identify emerging customer needs, optimise pricing models, enhance audience engagement, and design intelligent, evidence‑based solutions that can directly improve business performance and revenue growth.
The programme is structured for the real business world, combining lectures with live case study analysis, collaborative workshops, and applied research. This approach ensures you build both the strategic mindset and practical problem‑solving skills required by employers.
A highlight is the capstone group business project, an experiential learning module in which you partner with a real client organisation to solve a specific marketing challenge. Previous projects have ranged from planning product line expansions and entering new market segments to optimising multimillion‑pound marketing campaigns and designing and executing controlled marketing experiments. This direct exposure to client environments gives you tangible experience to showcase to employers.
The programme is delivered by the Marketing & Analytics research group, whose faculty hold research degrees from the world’s top institutions in quantitative marketing and economics, and have worked with leading firms such as Google, Amazon, Unilever, and global consulting groups. This unique mix of academic leaders and senior industry practitioners ensures that every module combines cutting‑edge research with current industry application.
From your first week, you are embedded in London’s marketing, analytics, and technology networks. You will have the opportunity to connect with senior executives, alumni, and thought leaders through guest lectures, workshops, and themed networking events - building industry relationships that can accelerate your career.

Interview
Applicants who meet the entry requirements and provide an appropriate professional statement will be reviewed.
Those considered eligible for the next stage will be invited to an online video interview, with the invitation sent by email from Kira Talent.
Applications for MSc Marketing Science (2026/27 cycle) are assessed in 4 stages:
Stage 1 - Initial assessment |
Once we have received your application and references from your nominated referees, we will check to ensure that you meet the minimum academic requirements for the programme. Due to the highly competitive nature of the programme, meeting the minimum requirements is essential for consideration to progress to stage 2. It is important to note that meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee entry, as this is a very competitive programme. Having evidence of experience/qualification in Statistics and Programming would definitely be an advantage, and it is important for you to state this clearly in your application and during your interview. A list of the standard entry requirements and their international equivalents can be found in the Key Information section of the MSc Marketing Science Prospectus page. Please note that UCL uses weighted averages to measure applicants’ current academic level. |
Stage 2 - Completion of an interview |
During stage 2, your application will be considered further. Most candidates with profiles of interest may be emailed an interview invitation. You will have a strict deadline (usually a week) by which to complete the online interview. Failure to do so will lead to your application being rejected. |
Stage 3 - Post interview selection |
After completion of the interview, your interview and application will be considered further. During this stage, we will rate applications on their interview responses, academic profile, career aspirations and international profile. We are looking for students with drive, talent, intelligence, vigour, critical thinking and analytical skills. If your application is at the lower end of the ranked applications, your application will be deemed unsuccessful, and you will be informed of this on the application portal. If your application is at the high end, an offer recommendation will be forwarded to the Graduate Admissions Office for processing. Alternatively, if your application is ranked in the middle range, your application will be moved to stage 4. |
Stage 4 - Holding |
During this stage, applications are held and regularly reviewed. When they are reviewed, the Programme Director will consider all applications currently at stage 4 and recommend offers to the strongest candidates until all places are filled. Please note that those who enter stage 4 may not receive a decision before August 2026. |
UCL aims to complete stages 1-2 within 12 weeks. Stage 3 will begin from January 2026 onwards. Applicants who enter stage 4 may not receive a decision before August 2026.
